2008Oblations and elevationsEnglish: As we might have mentioned here earlier on various occasions, we at iD.EOLOGY actually do fancy the small things. A small mansion, a small yacht or a small Lear jet are not exactly what we are talking about, but rather all the details that make life thrilling, interesting and exciting. Phour Trakk must have felt similar when on Slip into something more comfortable, his fourth e.p. on iD.EOLOGY, he combines influences from Arundhati Roy and Indian mythology to the creations of Manish Malhotra with his preference for sluggish downbeats and intricate jazz. What emerges when all these details coalesce, is not so much a mere counterpoint to his previous e.p. but rather something of an intercultural dialogue that is fascinating and inspiring enough to instantly make you want to light a candle for oblation. Hardly a surprise, because just like a blessing, this e.p. comes completely for free. So start the download ... and light the candles! And so, for the sake of our 50th regular release, we present to you - with a mix of soft nostalgia and tingeling curiosity - a new remix compilation plus an acoustic look back at some rare works from the early creative periods of some of the very first iD. artists. On tops, we invite you to an amply illustrated trip through the history of our label which won't fail to get you just as much in the mood as us. To get things going, we pop the corks and unite some of our celebrated iD. allstars on our round release iD.050. When they pick up the principle of the predecessor-compilation on Re-iD.d 2 and remix the tracks of other iD.EOLOGY artists, this time round it's not so much stilistic re-creations and re-interpretations they're all about, but rather highly polished downbeat-, avantgarde pop- and hiphop-tracks that make the originals sparkle and shine. Many have started off small but some have done so pretty big. In order to give you an idea of the proportions, on Frühwerk, the debut-release in our new iD.classics series, we have compiled a good one and a half hours of music from the early creative period of some of the iD.EOLOGY artists of the first hour. That apart from nostalgia, this causes a great deal of gratitude within our hearts is hardly surprising. And that it will cause a mix of amazement and enthusiasm in yours, is almost certain to us.

Zu Beginn lassen wir erstmal die Korken knallen und vereinen auf unserem runden Release iD.050 erneut einige unserer gefeierten iD. Allstars. Wenn diese auf Re-iD.d 2 das Prinzip der Vorgängercompilation aufnehmen und die Tracks anderer iD.EOLOGY Künstler remixen, kommen diesmal weniger stilistische Neuschöpfungen und Neuinterpretationen, sondern mehr auf Hochglanz polierte Downbeat-, Avantgarde Pop- und HipHop-Tracks dabei heraus, welche die Originale erst so richtig erstrahlen lassen. Viele haben mal klein, einige aber auch gleich ziemlich groß angefangen. Um Euch einen Eindruck von den Proportionen zu vermitteln, haben wir auf Frühwerk, der Debutveröffentlichung in unserer neuen iD.classics Reihe, satte anderthalb Stunden Musik aus der anfänglichen Schaffensperiode einiger iD.EOLOGY Künstler der ersten Stunde zusammengestellt. Dass sich da neben Nostalgie bei uns ein Gefühl der Dankbarkeit breit macht, ist kaum verwunderlich. Und dass bei Euch ein Gemisch aus Erstaunen und Begeisterung entsteht, das ist uns so gut wie sicher. Schaut man mal zurück auf die mittlerweile 8 Jahre, die wir als Kollektiv von Musikern und Grafikern und als Label bestehen, stellt man nicht nur fest, dass sich seit unseren bescheidenen Anfangstagen so einiges verändert hat, sondern dass wir inzwischen tatsächlich eine beachtliche Geschichte vorweisen können. Neben Auftritten, Labelparties mit Ausstellungen und einer stattlichen Anzahl hochkarätiger Veröffentlichungen unsererseits gabs eine Menge schönes Pressefeedback, Einladungen zu Konferenzen, Panels, Beiträge über unser Label und Interviews. And while they still know how to elate us with their very own mixture of melancholy and exhuberance, of cogitation and naivety, of minimalist electronics and great emotions, we try and stop a tear or two for the very last hopeless romantics. The "Edition Hiphop" is not only the first release in a loose compilation-series, featuring genre-specific contributions by appreciated iD. allstars as well as interesting new additions to our portfolio. And so we've taken the past few weeks off to withdraw into our cosy little fireside lounges and concoct a couple of very special tidbits for you. Apart from a debut-ep with a good sense of humour and retro-charms, we also present to you a genuine netaudio-premiere in the shape of a very special double-album. But one thing after another: Das Timbo is not only the latest addition to the iD. portfolio, he is also a rather odd kind of fish. On Timboland, his very first ep on iD.EOLOGY, he combines the power of electro with quirky 8-bit sounds, way-out lyrics with an uncompromising punk-attitude, plain nonsense with unconventional yet elaborate points of view. Zengineers a.k.a. Phour Trakk and Sick-E, meanwhile houselhold names in the iD. lineup, have big plans. As if it wasn't enough to make their latest release a double-album, to top things off they split the release between two netlabels. The Return of Intelligence is a dichotomic examination of the question what the perspectives regarding content might be for drum'n'bass today. The two halves "Hikari", published on iD.EOLOGY, and "Yamiyo", published by our dear friends from musicartistry, unite past, present and future of the genre with all sorts of other musical influences, showing what exciting sides to the trippy and physical qualities of drum'n'bass there still are to be discovered. Even today. Finally, we'd like to point your attention at a very splendid art-event. From August 22nd to 31st 2008 the Cologne culture-club ARTRMX will host an international art festival entitled "ARTRMX Cologne Vol. 1.0". Until April 15th you can submit your graphical works on the subject "Where is my mind?" if you want to be part of one of the numerous expositions during the festival. August 2008 mit der "ARTRMX Cologne Vol. 1.0" ein internationales Kunstfestival. Noch bis zum 15. News-Date: 01.04.2008Back to businessEnglish: Now that the crazy days are over, our heads are getting clearer again and we have managed to pat all the confetti from our clothes, it is about time to calm down and do some reflection. And so we soothe your ears with two new releases that will point your attention to the essential. Elevate, the first EP of Weigl & Hoffmann on our cosy little netlabel, slowly drifts into your conscience with crackling beats, whispered vocals, subtle string-arrangements as well as quiet guitar- and piano-parts. Their ambient pop songs full of poetic beauty will focus your inner eye on that space inbetween mind and soul. Our second new addition Kosmonaut goes to work with a little bit more pressure on his first EP on iD.EOLOGY entitled Frames. He contrasts dry d'n'b beats with deep pads, cool grooving basslines with almost poppish sequencer melodies, creating his very own personal blend of drive and serenity. Finally, there are two more soundbites in the memory of two nice music events that we took part in during 2007. First off, there's an interview from Köln Campus Radio with Volker Tripp and Jörg Friedrichs, two of the iD.EOLOGY heads, recorded on the c/o pop fair in Cologne last year. Secondly, there is a short little broadcast from German radio-station SWR2 on netlabels featuring interview snippets with Elliptic and Volker Tripp recorded on the Netaudiofestival 2007 in Berlin. So, there's a whole new bundle of tracks waiting to be discovered by you. Start the download - it's free and not cheap, you know. News-Date: 07.02.2008Alaaf and kissing!English: Hey, it's the fifth season of the year here in Germany - carnival! And there is no other place than Cologne where this tradition is being celebrated every year with such great exuberance. And since Cologne is also the city where our fashionable little netlabel was founded, we cannot help but pass on some of the hilarious vibe of these days over to you. Jeckich and Jöckich, a combo of six around Pestopan who is already know from earlier iD.EOLOGY releases, deliver a smashing anthem entitled "Bütz mich!" ("Kiss me!") that avoids all the aesthetic immaculacies usually spoiling the music present around carnival for most of us. And to make it even more palatable, the band also throws in a couple of remixes from electro to hip-hop and funk - just to make sure that there will be enough bützing going on on your next basement-party. Und da Köln auch die Stadt ist, in der unser hübsches kleines Netlabel das Licht der Welt erblickte, können wir nicht anders, als Euch ein wenig von der ausgelassenen Atmosphäre dieser Tage näher zu bringen. Jeckich and Jöckich, eine sechsköpfige Band um den schon von früheren iD.EOLOGY Veröffentlichungen bekannten Pestopan, liefern mit "Bütz mich!" eine Kracherhymne ab, die stilsicher all die ästhetischen Verfehlungen vermeidet, die einem ansonsten schnell die Freude an der üblichen Karnevalsmusik verleidet. Und damit auch wirklich jeder auf den Geschmack kommt, legt die Band noch eine handvoll Remixe von Electro bis Hip-Hop und Funk oben drauf - schließlich muß doch jemand sicherstellen, dass auch auf der nächsten Party im Bunkerkeller genug gebützt wird.
