iD.053Monokle - TesaurusEnglish: Music can act as something like an emotional anchor. Listening to some old songs will conjure up past experiences, situations and moods and will transport the listener into that state of mind he was in back then. Monokle celebrate exactly this quality of music. Their nuanced and agreeable mix of the most different references from 1970 to today, from Can to Plaid, from New Order to Maniacs of Noise, from prog-rock via new wave and pop to ambient and electronica is about a wee bit more than just piling up quotations. In their own, very original, sometimes minimal, sometimes opulent, but always highly detailed style Monokle play with virtuosity on the keyboard of the listener's memories, triggering long-forgotten images and sensations by the second, teasing out thoughts of afternoons spent with C64 games, of weltschmerz and heartaches, of great plans and little gifts until you can hardly decide whether to go for euphoria or nostalgia. Happily we therefore continue to lie at anchor, pull a sunlounger and decide to stay just a little longer. Who knows when all this will happen to cross our minds once again. Vergangene Erlebnisse, Begebenheiten und Zustände leben beim Hören alter Songs plötzlich wieder auf und versetzen den Hörer flugs zurück in seine damalige Gemütsverfassung. Monokle zelebrieren genau diese Qualität von Musik. Ihre nuancenreiche, gefällige Mischung unterschiedlichster Referenzen von 1970 bis heute, von Can bis zu Plaid, von New Order bis zu Maniacs of Noise, von Progrock über New Wave und Pop bis zu Ambient und Electronica erschöpft sich jedoch nicht etwa in bloßer Zitathuberei. In ihrem eigenen, sehr originellen, manchmal minimalistischen, manchmal opulenten, aber stets höchst detaillierten Stil spielen Monokle virtuos auf der Erinnerungsklaviatur des Hörers, triggern im Sekundentakt längst vergessene Bilder und Gefühle, kitzeln Gedanken an durchzockte Nachmittage vor dem C64, an Welt- und Herzschmerz, an große Pläne und kleine Nettigkeiten hervor, bis man sich selbst kaum mehr zwischen Euphorie und Nostalgie zu entscheiden weiß. Gern werfen wir also den Anker aus, rücken die Sonnenliege zurecht und verweilen noch ein klein wenig länger. Denn wer weiß schon, wann uns all das mal wieder in den Sinn kommen wird.

Ich kenne viele Netlabels die Musik machen, aber gerade hier zeigt sich wieder die Verspieltheit und die Mixtur aus vielen verschiedenen Soundrichtungen. Genau das macht die Frische eben aus!!!
