Sampler, drumcomputer, Casio keyboards and effects machines are strewn across the table while Alice plays the viola and sings in an achingly mesmerizing voice. How she commands it all without eight arms is a mystery, but the real question is, again, Who is Alice Rose? Her repertoire stretches from folky easy-listening to modern electro, from lo-fi experimental to up-tempo dance. Like a chameleon, Alice Rose, always stylishly dressed in her homemade haute couture, displaying the nurse, cowboy and bride costumes and adjusts herself to the audience and the venue, be it Lowlands, Robodock, Pukkelpop or many of the other special venues in Europe where she’s performed.
