Circles and echoes

English: Circles seem to be a big thing these days. And in fact, they do get more interesting as they grow in diameter. At least that's true of the circles of friends and artists of our cosy little label. To prove ourselves right, first off we present to you the debut of a new addition to our portfolio with a homebase in Argentina and a favour for commuting between Italy and the UK. Our Berlin circle of friends throws in a real dj-nicety - and a video-interview with a podcaster-friend from the UK on tops.

On his iD.EOLOGY debut, the "Durban Chamber" LP, Dubsalon pays his very own tribute to the echo and infuses his rich and juicy psy-dub beats with elements from dubstep, funk, electronica, hiphop, downbeat and lounge. Shimmering with slick production, his tracks oscillate inbetween full-on and far-out, turning an abundance of musical detail into an equally relaxed, rousing and reality-bending overall listening experience.

DJ Saetchmo, bass-loving resident of the Berlin #tassebier posse and host of his very own weekly Echochamber show, has put his mixing-mind and -digits to Dubsalon's tracks and has tweaked them into a mindboggling 30 minutes of trippy dubby goodness. And that mix is of course also part of the package which we have prepared for you this time.

Finally, Volker of the iD.EOLOGY staff met up with pEtEr Withoutfield of Blogrebellen and award-winning podcaster Pete Cogle in true conspiracy-style on May 23rd. Pete, who is pumping out truckloads of quality podcasts, answered Volker some questions about his shows and his views on free music. pEtEr made a video of the interview which you might want to check out for some inside knowledge on the exciting world of podcasting.

Schließlich hat sich Volker vom iD.EOLOGY Team in echter Verschwörungsmanier am 23. Mai noch mit pEtEr Withoutfield von den Blogrebellen und dem preisgekrönten britischen Podcaster Pete Cogle getroffen. English: Has it ever struck you that quotations about the future always come from the past? One might think that it's something like a contradiction in terms. But then again, the combination of past and future can yield quite an exciting and inspiring mixture. Much in this vein, besides our latest release we also have a link to a fine podcast with an extensive interview with some of the iD. posse in store for you this month.

Our fabulous new addition Strobotone combines futuristic electronic dance-sound with a truckload of references from 35 years of musical history on his one-hour debut-album entitled Flashback Forward. Skillfully he amalgamates bits and pieces from funk, disco, electric boogie, house, electronica, ambient and many more into a crisp and detailed mixture of perfect pop. And since this is such damn good fun even for those who are not highbrow academic eclectics, these tracks sound like tomorrow's classics already today.

To those who'd like to know some more about the past, present and future of iD.EOLOGY, we warmly recommend the wonderful podcast PCP #344 by Pete Cogle. The latter interviewed Dub One! and Volker Tripp from the iD.EOLOGY posse for over an hour on free music and your favourite netlabel and also played some hand-picked tracks from our portfolio.

Even though Arthur C. Clarke coined the above quotation back in 1962, we're pretty amazed that in the face of our latest release, it is still very up to date. So, raise your glasses to the future ... and start the download!

Last night a BJ saved my life

English: As you know, at iD.EOLOGY we love the diversity of life. And as you can tell, we don't mind the occasional cheesy joke. With our latest two releases we therefore bring you some slightly raunchy music for body and soul as well as exciting and inspiring sounds for the mind.

On his long-awaited second solo-release on iD.EOLOGY, the Blow Dubs EP, Berlin-based producer-whizz Dub One! gets all physical with tracks full of pure aural sex. English: What's a line nicked from a famous 80s pop ballad couldn't be any more true for what we've got lined up for you this time for free download.

Two of our iD. allstars whom you have already gotten to know and to appreciate as members of Monomatik celebrate the ideal of the anti-hero on the first album of their new band Gahzed. Deep Space of Mine

English: While with our last release, we breezily took you along to the fringes of outer space, we decided - in one of those Kubrickian moments we have now and then - that it's about time to go into the opposite direction in both style and content.

On his second e.p. on iD.EOLOGY Michael Hoffmann explores the depths of a universe that starts right behind your forehead. Mind Trips is a dark ambient journey into the centre of the soul. With sluggish beats, organic and industrial noises and a bunch of other elements he recreates the air of primeval landscapes, making the listener a shaman on his own behalf.

Rarely have deep insights been this inexpensive - in fact totally free. So go ahead and start your download!

Shine a light!

English: Finally days are getting longer again. And so we kick the year off appropriately with a double-ep release that is dedicated to dualism and that is therefore capable of shedding light into the dark in two different ways.

On Photon, his second EP on iD.EOLOGY, Kosmonaut examines the double-nature of light, the wave-particle-dualism, within his very own electromusical universe. Be shareful!

English: Yes, this is the claim for the Cologne Commons in 2010! After the success of the first Festival & Conference last year, there´ll be ofcoz another one back in June. Everything you´ll need to know about it can be found on the website soon. But as an announcement, there´s a new compilation online, the Cologne Commons Compilation #03. To be honest, we´re a little bit late for mentioning that, because it was already released at Christmas, but if you still donnot know about that, you should give it a try! And the artwork was done by our beloved Rezy. Ofcourse everything´s for free, be shareful, you know? ;)

Deutsch: Ja, so lautet das Motto der diesjährigen Cologne Commons. Nach einem gelungenen Debüt im letzten Jahr geht´s nun in die zweite Runde, wieder im sonnigen Juni. Sämtliche Infos über die Veranstaltung wird man in Kürze auf der Website finden können. Und auch wenn es eigentlich inzwischen ein bisschen spät ist, die dritte Ausgabe der Cologe Commons Compilation lohnt sich! Wurde Weihnachten schon veröffentlicht, aber die besinnlichen Klänge der dort versammelten Creative Commons-Künstler passen ja auch jetzt noch ins verschneite Klima. Back again in 2010!

English: Yep, after being busy with lots of other things during the last months, we´re finally back to celebrate our 10th jubilee together with you! Without too many words, let us just announce that there will be alot of really good and new iD-releases this year, for sure a few interesting live-gigs and ... but see and listen yourself!

And a big, big thanks to everyone who voted for us in the De:Bug-Readerspoll. We got the 4th place in the category Netlabels, thanks alot!

Deutsch: Sooo, nachdem wir hier alle mächtig beschäftigt waren die letzten Monate, sind wir nun endlich wieder am start, um mit Euch zusammen unser 10-jähriges Bestehen zu feieren. Doch ohne viel Worte zu machen sei lediglich an dieser Stelle angekündigt, dass es so einige wirklich richtig gute und außergewöhnliche Veröffentlichungen in diesem Jahr geben wird, sicherlich ein paar Live-Auftritte, die man nicht verpassen sollte sowie ... aber lasst Euch überraschen und seht und hört selbst! ;)

Newcomers, Festival, Radio

English: After we had brought some rather harsh technoid sounds to you with our recent two releases, we - hopefully just like you - are now in the mood for something sweeter. And so, this time round we have picked some newcomers to our portfolio who fathom pop in all its depth.

Digi G'Alessios's first release on iD.EOLOGY entitled Shiny Brazils connects with great style and humour laid-back hiphop beats with wonderfully cheesy easy listening melodies. The Italian producer knows how to play with clichés and kitsch so well that heart and mind of the attentive listener are being entertained equally fine.

On their iD.EOLOGY debut Hello City, Stereoshape reject all attemps to file them into a certain genre but rather define themselves through a precise, polished and palatable urban pop-sound that easily combines elements from triphop, funk, blues, electro, lounge and disco and that graces the loft of a city mansion just as well as it makes taking the subway more tolerable.

By the way, Stereoshape along with the iD.EOLOGY Acts Zengineers and Slomo & Lunte will appear live on the Netaudioberlin (probably the biggest netaudio event so far) from October 8th to 11th 2009. So in the words of Fab Five Freddy: be there or be square!

Finally, for those of you who can understand German, we recommend listening to the Breitband show on Deutschlandradio Kultur. On August 22nd, iD. act Dub One! and iD. head Volker Tripp were invited to speak about the compatibility of collecting societies and creative commons as well as the experiences of a musician with free licenses. You can download and listen to the complete show here.

Stereoshape werden übrigens, wie auch die iD.EOLOGY Acts Zengineers sowie Slomo & Lunte, auf der Netaudioberlin (dem wohl bisher größten Netaudioevent überhaupt) vom 8. - 11. Oktober 2009 live zu erleben sein. Wer's verpasst, hat selber Schuld.

To nick a line from Mr. Spock ...

English: Freedom can really be strenuous at times. After the Cologne Commons festival had given us the opportunity to work on and visit an equally classy and entertaining redenz-vous of the free music-scene, we just needed to kick back a little. But since freedom also is a lot of fun, in the end we just couldn't help but give in to that odd desire to brighten your day with another netaudio-pearl.

Much in our vein, Sudio examines the sensation of fascination on Strange Attractors, already his fourth EP on the "head" net-label. Since what's exotic and unfamiliar usually is what's most fascinating, the otherwise cool musical lab-worker charges his technoid, dubby clockwork-tracks with resonances and dissonances, with excessive crescendi and screeching distortions. This intriguing mix of delicate construction and wild organics does not miss the desired effect but attracts us, just like you, in a strange and almost magical way.

So there's one more good reason for a smile. And on tops, all that comes completely for free. Fascinating, don't you find?

Not for free, but nevertheless strongly recommended to connaisseurs of innovative German hiphop is the latest offering from German label Dakkord by the two "Broke Gringos" LAH a.k.a. Hazenberg and Slomo entitled 24/7.

For those of you eager to party hard with digital culture, here's a must-go weekend-tip: the boheme of the computer-demoscene will meet in Cologne for chats and competitions concerning digital art, music and a beer on the side on the Evoke festival. And for everyone who's ever wanted a chance to meet Kosmonaut, Sire or Monsieur J. and invite them on a refreshing analogue offline beverage, just has to be there. ;)

Deutsch: Freiheit ist manchmal wirklich anstrengend. Nachdem wir mit der Cologne Commons ein ebenso hochkarätiges wie unterhaltsames Stelldichein der freien Musikszene besuchen und mitgestalten durften, brauchten wir erstmal eine kleine Verschnaufpause. Weil Freiheit aber auch verdammt viel Spaß macht, konnten wir uns dem seltsamen Verlangen, Euch mit einer neuen Netaudio-Preziose zu beglücken, letztlich doch nicht entziehen.

Ganz in unserem Sinne befasst sich Sudio auf Strange Attractors, seiner mittlerweile vierten EP bei dem Net-Label mit Köpfchen, mit dem Wesen der Faszination. Und weil das Fremdartige immer besonders faszinierend ist, lädt der sonst so kühle Musiklaborant seine technoiden, dubbigen Uhrwerktracks mit Resonanzen und Dissonanzen, überbordenden Crescendi und kreischenden Verzerrungen auf. Die fesselnde Mischung aus feingliedriger Konstruktion und wilder Organik verfehlt nicht ihre Wirkung, sondern zieht uns, ebenso wie Euch, auf merkwürdige, fast magische Weise in ihren Bann.

Mal wieder ein Grund zur Freude also. Und kostenlos gibt's das Ganze obendrein. Faszinierend, nicht wahr?

Zwar nicht kostenlos, aber dennoch empfehlenswert für Kenner des innovativen deutschen Hiphop, ist die neue auf Dakkord erschienene EP der beiden Broke Gringos LAH a.k.a. Hazenberg und Slomo namens 24/7.

English: Hey there, our recent release by Monokle seems to have done the trick and actually made springtime arrive on the balconies of the iD.EOLOGY mansion. So this time round, we continue our rite of spring and vent the heads of all you hiphop-fans out there with a super-fresh breeze. Eat your heart out, Stravinsky!

With their debut LP on your favourite netlabel entitled Kraut-Hop, Grüün, a.k.a. beat-whizz Comfort Fit and flow-pro tide, grab some new brooms and start doing the clear-out in the rapgame. All the things that could possibly make you dislike hiphop Grüün just sweep aside, and use beats simultaneously intricate and fat, multilayered and straightforward, as well as raps that know how to rock without relying on gangsta-shit, to bring the qualities of the genre to high shine again.

Speaking about bringing a genre to high shine, don't forget to check out Sudio's upcoming release on iD.EOLOGY - shades of minimal trance tinted with some damn physical stamina. Until then, just bear in mind, how according to the German recording industry's spokesman Dieter Gorny the business has no more money to spend on the PopKomm music-fair while netlabels like ourselves keep pumping out quality-stuff for free. Why is that so? Time for some re-thinking?

Warum nur? Ist es vielleicht an der Zeit, Einiges zu überdenken?

A little bit of Net-Label-History

English: Speaking about net-label ... if you stepped onto our Site and still donnot know what the hell a so called "net-label" is, you should read an interesting (german) interview with Simon Carless (an old friend of us back from the Amiga-Demoscene-Times btw.) published at Gulli.com, the one who not only is an important person behind the very huge archive.org which hosts terrabytes of net-label-music, he also runs one of the oldest net-label since 1996 called Monotonik.

Oblations and elevations

English: As we might have mentioned here earlier on various occasions, we at iD.EOLOGY actually do fancy the small things. A small mansion, a small yacht or a small Lear jet are not exactly what we are talking about, but rather all the details that make life thrilling, interesting and exciting.

Phour Trakk must have felt similar when on Slip into something more comfortable, his fourth e.p. on iD.EOLOGY, he combines influences from Arundhati Roy and Indian mythology to the creations of Manish Malhotra with his preference for sluggish downbeats and intricate jazz. What emerges when all these details coalesce, is not so much a mere counterpoint to his previous e.p. but rather something of an intercultural dialogue that is fascinating and inspiring enough to instantly make you want to light a candle for oblation.

Hardly a surprise, because just like a blessing, this e.p. comes completely for free. So start the download ... and light the candles!

Deutsch: Wie schon verschiedentlich an dieser Stelle erwähnt, freuen wir bei iD.EOLOGY uns auch gern mal über die kleinen Dinge. Eine kleine Villa, eine kleine Yacht oder ein kleiner Lear Jet gehören weniger dazu als vielmehr die Details, die das Leben spannend, interessant und aufregend machen.

Past presents future

English: When one is celebrating a jubilee, then sometimes one's head is simultaneously in the past and in the future. And so, for the sake of our 50th regular release, we present to you - with a mix of soft nostalgia and tingeling curiosity - a new remix compilation plus an acoustic look back at some rare works from the early creative periods of some of the very first iD. artists. On tops, we invite you to an amply illustrated trip through the history of our label which won't fail to get you just as much in the mood as us.

To get things going, we pop the corks and unite some of our celebrated iD. allstars on our round release iD.050. When they pick up the principle of the predecessor-compilation on Re-iD.d 2 and remix the tracks of other iD.EOLOGY artists, this time round it's not so much stilistic re-creations and re-interpretations they're all about, but rather highly polished downbeat-, avantgarde pop- and hiphop-tracks that make the originals sparkle and shine.

Many have started off small but some have done so pretty big. In order to give you an idea of the proportions, on Frühwerk, the debut-release in our new iD.classics series, we have compiled a good one and a half hours of music from the early creative period of some of the iD.EOLOGY artists of the first hour. That apart from nostalgia, this causes a great deal of gratitude within our hearts is hardly surprising. And that it will cause a mix of amazement and enthusiasm in yours, is almost certain to us.

If you look back at the 8 years of our existence as a collective of musicians and graphics-artists as well as a label, you might be surprised at how much has changed since our humble beginning and at what a respectable history we're able to boast. Apart from live-performances, label-parties with art-expositions and a considerable number of high-class releases on our part, there have been a lot of nice media-coverage, invitations to conferences and panels, features and interviews concerning iD.EOLOGY. For that matter, we have rummaged our archives thoroughly and fixed a slideshow which shows how it all started with a few heads teaming up to release their musical and graphical works.

So, to the past, to the future and to music! There's a lot to celebrate. Start the download ...

Und so präsentieren wir Euch anlässlich unserer fünfzigsten regulären Veröffentlichung - beschwingt durch sanfte Nostalgie und kribbelnde Neugier - freudig eine neue Remix-Compilation sowie einen akustischen Blick zurück auf Werke aus der frühen Schaffenszeit unserer ersten iD. Künstler, welche bislang nur den Allerwenigsten zu Ohren gekommen sein dürften. Zudem laden wir Euch ein zu einem reichlich bebilderten Trip durch die Geschichte unseres Labels, der Euch gewiss ebenso in Stimmung versetzen wird wie uns.

Zu Beginn lassen wir erstmal die Korken knallen und vereinen auf unserem runden Release iD.050 erneut einige unserer gefeierten iD. Allstars. Wenn diese auf Re-iD.d 2 das Prinzip der Vorgängercompilation aufnehmen und die Tracks anderer iD.EOLOGY Künstler remixen, kommen diesmal weniger stilistische Neuschöpfungen und Neuinterpretationen, sondern mehr auf Hochglanz polierte Downbeat-, Avantgarde Pop- und HipHop-Tracks dabei heraus, welche die Originale erst so richtig erstrahlen lassen.

Viele haben mal klein, einige aber auch gleich ziemlich groß angefangen. Um Euch einen Eindruck von den Proportionen zu vermitteln, haben wir auf Frühwerk, der Debutveröffentlichung in unserer neuen iD.classics Reihe, satte anderthalb Stunden Musik aus der anfänglichen Schaffensperiode einiger iD.EOLOGY Künstler der ersten Stunde zusammengestellt. Dass sich da neben Nostalgie bei uns ein Gefühl der Dankbarkeit breit macht, ist kaum verwunderlich. Und dass bei Euch ein Gemisch aus Erstaunen und Begeisterung entsteht, das ist uns so gut wie sicher.

Schaut man mal zurück auf die mittlerweile 8 Jahre, die wir als Kollektiv von Musikern und Grafikern und als Label bestehen, stellt man nicht nur fest, dass sich seit unseren bescheidenen Anfangstagen so einiges verändert hat, sondern dass wir inzwischen tatsächlich eine beachtliche Geschichte vorweisen können. Neben Auftritten, Labelparties mit Ausstellungen und einer stattlichen Anzahl hochkarätiger Veröffentlichungen unsererseits gabs eine Menge schönes Pressefeedback, Einladungen zu Konferenzen, Panels, Beiträge über unser Label und Interviews. Aus diesem Anlass haben wir ganz, ganz tief in unseren Archiven gekramt und für Euch eine Slideshow zusammengestellt, die aufzeigt, wie damals alles damit begann, dass sich ein paar Köpfe zusammentaten, um ihre Musik und ihre grafischen Arbeiten zu veröffentlichen.

English: This weekend the Evoke, a huge but nice computer-scene-convention took place again in Cologne, where not just Sire, Kosmonaut, Decca, Twilight and Monsieur J. appeared, Kosmonaut also contributed under his scene-handle "Mad of Still" with a 4kbyte(!)-Demo and got the first price with it. Joy and sorrow

English: Sometimes you don't know whether you should laugh or cry. Much like at the European Championship, from a German point of view, joy and sorrow take turns, we feel very similar about or two latest releases. But one thing after another ...

Dub One!, who already displayed his preference for musical influences from all over the world on the EPs he released together with Authist, compresses with virtuosity inspirations from the multicultural microcosm of Kreuzberg into a conglomerate of reggae, dub, jazz, hiphop, pop and hindustanic music on his very first solo-release on iD.EOLOGY entitled Dubplates from the madhouse. That the outcome is no less funky than it is unifying, you can check out here.

With But we made it so far Monomatik present not only their latest but sadly also their very last release. And while they still know how to elate us with their very own mixture of melancholy and exhuberance, of cogitation and naivety, of minimalist electronics and great emotions, we try and stop a tear or two for the very last hopeless romantics.

Finally, we'd like to point your attention at a very special premiere. On July 14th, the very first netaudio bar called "breiPott" opened in Skalitzer Straße 81 in Berlin. Have a yummy cocktail or enjoy some of their ingenious rice-snacks while listening to netaudio only or downloading any of the music played within the bar onto your USB-stick or mp3-player from one of three terminals for free. Dub One!, der bereits auf den gemeinsamen EPs mit Authist seine Vorliebe für musikalische Einflüsse aus aller Welt demonstriert hat, komprimiert auf Dubplates from the madhouse, seiner ersten Solo-Veröffentlichung auf iD.EOLOGY, virtuos Inspirationen aus seinem multikulturellen Kreuzberger Mikrokosmos zu einem Konglomerat aus Reggae, Dub, Jazz, Hiphop, Pop und hindustanischer Musik. How much is sunshine?

English: While life feels like it's getting more expensive day by day, rendering the general mood worse and worse, we at iD.EOLOGY oppose this trend with both words and tangible sounds. Much like the sun lifts our feelings with its warming beams totally for free, our latest release once again pampers both body and mind at exactly zero cost.

The "Edition Hiphop" is not only the first release in a loose compilation-series, featuring genre-specific contributions by appreciated iD. allstars as well as interesting new additions to our portfolio. It also goes to show that art and commerce do not necessarily go together, and that apart from worn cliches, hiphop has plenty of space for original beats and unconventional points of view.

So if on hearing this compilation, you do notice that all of a sudden you feel very relaxed and well-entertained, you might also find that "because best things are free" is a pretty appropriate title for the series. Start the download ... and decide for yourselves!

Madness and wisdom

English: Good things come to those who wait. And so we've taken the past few weeks off to withdraw into our cosy little fireside lounges and concoct a couple of very special tidbits for you. Apart from a debut-ep with a good sense of humour and retro-charms, we also present to you a genuine netaudio-premiere in the shape of a very special double-album. But one thing after another:

Das Timbo is not only the latest addition to the iD. portfolio, he is also a rather odd kind of fish. On Timboland, his very first ep on iD.EOLOGY, he combines the power of electro with quirky 8-bit sounds, way-out lyrics with an uncompromising punk-attitude, plain nonsense with unconventional yet elaborate points of view.

Zengineers a.k.a. Phour Trakk and Sick-E, meanwhile houselhold names in the iD. lineup, have big plans. As if it wasn't enough to make their latest release a double-album, to top things off they split the release between two netlabels. The Return of Intelligence is a dichotomic examination of the question what the perspectives regarding content might be for drum'n'bass today. The two halves "Hikari", published on iD.EOLOGY, and "Yamiyo", published by our dear friends from musicartistry, unite past, present and future of the genre with all sorts of other musical influences, showing what exciting sides to the trippy and physical qualities of drum'n'bass there still are to be discovered. Even today.

Finally, we'd like to point your attention at a very splendid art-event. From August 22nd to 31st 2008 the Cologne culture-club ARTRMX will host an international art festival entitled "ARTRMX Cologne Vol. 1.0". Until April 15th you can submit your graphical works on the subject "Where is my mind?" if you want to be part of one of the numerous expositions during the festival.

So, there's a big heap on your plate - start the feast!

Deutsch: Gut Ding will Weile haben. Und so haben wir uns in den vergangenen Wochen in unsere lauschigen Kaminzimmer zurückgezogen, um für Euch ein paar ganz besondere Leckerbissen auszuhecken. Neben einer Debut-EP mit viel Sinn für Humor und Retrocharme gibt es mal eben eine echte Netaudio-Premiere in Gestalt eines ganz speziellen Doppelalbums. Aber eins nach dem anderen:

The Return of Intelligence ist eine dichotomische Untersuchung der Frage, welche inhaltlichen Perspektiven es heute eigentlich noch in Sachen Drum'n'Bass gibt. Die beiden Hälften "Hikari", erschienen auf iD.EOLOGY, und "Yamiyo", erschienen bei unseren lieben Freunden von musicartistry, vereinen Vergangenheit, Gegenwart und Zukunft des Genres mit vielfältigen musikalischen Einflüssen und zeigen so, welche aufregenden Seiten man den trippigen und den körperlichen Qualitäten von Drum'n'Bass abgewinnen kann. Auch heute noch.

Schließlich möchten wir Euch noch auf ein ganz famoses Kunstevent hinweisen. Der Kölner Kulturverein ARTRMX e.V. veranstaltet vom 22. bis 31. August 2008 mit der "ARTRMX Cologne Vol. 1.0" ein internationales Kunstfestival. Noch bis zum 15. April könnt Ihr Eure grafischen Arbeiten zum Thema "Where is my mind?" einreichen, wenn Ihr bei einer der zahlreichen Ausstellungen während des Festivals dabei sein möchtet.

Back to business

English: Now that the crazy days are over, our heads are getting clearer again and we have managed to pat all the confetti from our clothes, it is about time to calm down and do some reflection. And so we soothe your ears with two new releases that will point your attention to the essential.

Elevate, the first EP of Weigl & Hoffmann on our cosy little netlabel, slowly drifts into your conscience with crackling beats, whispered vocals, subtle string-arrangements as well as quiet guitar- and piano-parts. Their ambient pop songs full of poetic beauty will focus your inner eye on that space inbetween mind and soul.

Our second new addition Kosmonaut goes to work with a little bit more pressure on his first EP on iD.EOLOGY entitled Frames. He contrasts dry d'n'b beats with deep pads, cool grooving basslines with almost poppish sequencer melodies, creating his very own personal blend of drive and serenity.

Finally, there are two more soundbites in the memory of two nice music events that we took part in during 2007. First off, there's an interview from Köln Campus Radio with Volker Tripp and Jörg Friedrichs, two of the iD.EOLOGY heads, recorded on the c/o pop fair in Cologne last year. Deutsch: Nun, da die tollen Tage vorbei sind, der Kopf wieder klarer wird und wir uns das Konfetti aus den Klamotten geklopft haben, ist es an der Zeit, etwas Besinnlichkeit einkehren zu lassen. Und daher legen wir euch gleich mal zwei neue Veröffentlichungen vor die Lauscher, um Eure Aufmerksamkeit auf das Wesentliche zu lenken.

Elevate, die erste EP von Weigl & Hoffmann auf unserem familiären kleinen Netlabel, bewegt sich mit knisternden Beats, hauchzarten Vocals, zurückhaltenden Streicherarrangements sowie leisen Gitarren- und Pianoparts in einem langsamen Drift durch Dein Bewusstsein. Mit ambienten Popsongs voll poetischer Schönheit öffnet das Duo das innere Auge für den Bereich zwischen Verstand und Seele.

Mit etwas mehr Druck begibt sich unser zweiter Neuzugang Kosmonaut auf Frames, seiner ersten EP auf iD.EOLOGY, ans Werk. Des Weiteren ist da noch ein Bericht des SWR2 über Netlabels, der einige Fetzen aus Interviews mit Elliptic und Volker Tripp vom letztjährigen Netaudiofestival in Berlin enthält.

Alaaf and kissing!

English: Hey, it's the fifth season of the year here in Germany - carnival! And there is no other place than Cologne where this tradition is being celebrated every year with such great exuberance. And since Cologne is also the city where our fashionable little netlabel was founded, we cannot help but pass on some of the hilarious vibe of these days over to you.

Jeckich and Jöckich, a combo of six around Pestopan who is already know from earlier iD.EOLOGY releases, deliver a smashing anthem entitled "Bütz mich!" ("Kiss me!") that avoids all the aesthetic immaculacies usually spoiling the music present around carnival for most of us. And to make it even more palatable, the band also throws in a couple of remixes from electro to hip-hop and funk - just to make sure that there will be enough bützing going on on your next basement-party.

Deutsch: Hey, die fünfte Jahreszeit macht sich in Deutschland breit - Karneval. Und nirgends wird diese Tradition mit soviel Überschwang gefeiert wie in Köln. Und da Köln auch die Stadt ist, in der unser hübsches kleines Netlabel das Licht der Welt erblickte, können wir nicht anders, als Euch ein wenig von der ausgelassenen Atmosphäre dieser Tage näher zu bringen.

Jeckich and Jöckich, eine sechsköpfige Band um den schon von früheren iD.EOLOGY Veröffentlichungen bekannten Pestopan, liefern mit "Bütz mich!" eine Kracherhymne ab, die stilsicher all die ästhetischen Verfehlungen vermeidet, die einem ansonsten schnell die Freude an der üblichen Karnevalsmusik verleidet. Und damit auch wirklich jeder auf den Geschmack kommt, legt die Band noch eine handvoll Remixe von Electro bis Hip-Hop und Funk oben drauf - schließlich muß doch jemand sicherstellen, dass auch auf der nächsten Party im Bunkerkeller genug gebützt wird.

English: While these days you probably keep thinking about what you might be giving away as a gift soon (and just happen to notice what incredibly stylish items there are in the iD.EOLOGY Shop), we simply turn that stuff around and give you some presents in advance. But no beard! And no red suit!

In his familiar scientific modus operandi Sudio, sound-explorer and a household name in the label's portfolio, turns to new shapes and subjects on his third EP on iD.EOLOGY entitled Sheets of Sound. With mathematical exactness and driving beats he explores the interactions of body and acoustics, of sensation and sound, of emotion and composition to then abstract his findings into the algorithms of techdub and minimal.

But since he is a man of many interests, he also throws in a no less scientific study on the subject of netaudio. Sudio sums up the results of his research in a kicking netaudio deejay mixset called Depth Touch Data control, release number two in our iD.mix series. Back from Netaudio-Festival 2007

First off, a big thanks to the staff of the Netaudiofestival Berlin - thanks for a few exciting days in Berlin! Not everything worked perfectly well, but all in all we were happy to meet a bundle of guys from other netlabels at the great R.A.W.-Location. Most of the music, to be quite frank, gave us a bit of a bore, though. Truckloads of generic-sounding minimal techhouse-stuff. Is that what netaudio is about in the end? We hope our acts Monomatik, Disrupt and Dual Perception helped to add a little diversity to the festival as a whole.

Danke nochmal an das Team des NetaudioFestivals für ein paar wirklich spannende Tage in der Hauptstadt. Nicht alles gelangte so wie angedacht zur Umsetzung, aber alles in allem war es sehr schön, mal einige der anderen Netlabel-Betreiber persönlich kennen zu lernen. Das musikalische Programm hingegen rief in uns auf Dauer eine gewisse Ermüdung hervor. Stundenlang zumeist generisch klingender Minimal Techhouse-Kram. Ist es das, was den "Netaudio"-Sound ausmacht? Wir hoffen, dass zumindest unsere Acts Monomatik, Disrupt und Dual Perception der Party zu ein wenig mehr musikalischer Vielfalt verhelfen konnte.

Four years, four releases

English: Time flies like an arrow. It's now been four years since we initially started the iD.EOLOGY site. Since then, we've sweetened your lives month by month (erm, well almost) with musical gems from our treasure chest. So as a thanks for your loyalty and also as a means to shamelessly celebrate ourselves, we have fixed one huge package on the occasion of our fourth birthday. True to the motto: "four years, four releases" we're hitting your ears quadrophonically, so to speak. And to top things off, you also get the chance to meet the people behind all this live and in colour. But one thing after another:

The collective formed by the Broke Gringos, Fleur Earth, the Broke Lovers Sextet and a couple of popular producers find the time to be just about right to inject some new avangardistic spirit into the game of rap and hiphop. On Colonius Monk Collective 2 they tell some true as well as fictitious stories out of the lives of unrecognised geniuses over refreshingly fluffy beats. Without blinders and devoid of a serious disposition towards profanity but with a lot of wittiness they drop their accounts of the exciting life on the brink of society.

With their second full-blown album on iD.EOLOGY, A Gesture of Irritation, Phour Trakk and Sick-E, better known as Zengineers, stay true to their philosophy and do things (almost) totally different. If you expect yet another round of downbeat with an exotic flair, you might find yourself perplexed by their recollection of early jazz as the root of modern urban sound and astonished by the range of moods they go through. And the teachable disciple might just notice that the album title can mean a wee bit more than originally assumed.

iD. is for identity. And so we have asked some of our most distinguished artists to take the tracks of no less distinguished iD.EOLOGY artists and to add their very own personal touch, a new iD. to them. The experiment entitled re-iD.d has blossomed into such wondrous stylistic flowers as for example pop'n'bass, electroreggae, digital laptop downbeat, indietronic rap and many more. Be surprised ...

The fourth release is something very special. You're used to getting all this great music from us absolutely free of charge. With Music is About People 2 we, on the one hand, tie in with an earlier compilation and, on the other hand, break some new ground at the same time: it's the first ever label compilation from us available exclusively to buy. Deutsch: Kinder, wie die Zeit vergeht. Vier Jahre ist es mittlerweile her, dass wir mit iD.EOLOGY an den Start gegangen sind. Seitdem haben wir Euch Monat für Monat (erm, jedenfalls so ungefähr) mit neuen musikalischen Kleinoden aus unserer Schatztruhe das Leben versüßt. Als Dank für Eure Treue und auch, um uns einfach mal hemmungslos selbst zu feiern, haben wir anläßlich unseres vierten Geburtstags mal wieder ein fettes Paket geschnürt. Nach dem Motto: "vier Jahre, vier Veröffentlichungen" gibt's daher diesmal quasi quadrophonisch was auf die Ohren - und obendrein auch noch die Gelegenheit, die Leute hinter alledem einmal live und in Farbe zu erleben. Aber eins nach dem anderen:

Aus Sicht des Kollektivs aus den Broke Gringos, Fleur Earth, dem Broke Lovers Sextet und einigen namhaften Produzenten ist es mal wieder an der Zeit, das Rap und Hiphop Game mit ein wenig avangardistischem Geist anzureichern. Auf Colonius Monk Collective 2 erzählen sie auf angenehm flockigen Beats wahre und fiktive Geschichten aus dem Leben verkannter Genies und berichten ohne Scheuklappen und ohne einen ausgeprägten Hang zur Fäkalsprache, dafür aber mit viel Wortwitz vom aufregenden Leben an der Unterkante der Gesellschaft.

Mit ihrem bereits zweiten Album auf iD.EOLOGY, A Gesture of Irritation, bleiben Phour Trakk und Sick-E, besser bekannt als Zengineers, ihrer Philosophie treu und machen mal wieder (fast) alles anders. Wer noch mehr Downbeat mit exotischem Flair erwartet, der wird sich angesichts ihrer Rückbesinnung auf den frühen Jazz als Wurzel urbanen Sounds vielleicht verblüfft und angesichts des Spektrums der durchlebten Stimmungen vielleicht erstaunt fühlen. Und der gelehrige Schüler bemerkt dabei vielleicht, dass der Albumtitel doch mehr bedeuten kann, als ursprünglich angenommen.

iD. steht für Identität. Wir haben daher einige unserer profiliertesten Künstler gebeten, sich einmal den Tracks nicht minder profilierter iD.EOLOGY Künstler anzunehmen und ihnen ihre ganz eigene Note, eine neue iD. zu verpassen. Das Experiment mit dem Titel re-iD.d hat denn auch solch wundersame stilistische Blüten wie Pop'n'Bass, Electroreggae, Digital Laptop Downbeat, Indietronic-Rap und einiges mehr hervorgebracht. Lasst Euch überraschen ...

Die vierte Veröffentlichung ist etwas ganz Besonderes. Ihr seid es ja gewohnt, von uns stets alles gratis und frei Haus zu bekommen. For they're such jolly and good fellows ...

English: Summer is drawing closer and you can feel the mood is getting better all around. So even Monomatik, our helpless romantics verging on melancholy, cannot help but to put on placid smiles, presenting two new releases that bring out some yet lesser known sides to them for their ten-year band-anniversary.

Traditionally provided with a release-number divisible by 12 without remainder, on Morgen träumen wir gemeinsam Monomatik turn their gaze back to the early days of their musical socialization. Synthpop fragments permeate the intricate indietronic tracks, activating memories that you believed to be lost or you didn't even know you had them in the first place.

The value of a well-cultivated netlabel-friendship is demonstrated by Monomatik and Intoxik-Act Interloop on their remix ep Monomatik vs. Interloop which they throw in as a little anniversary-extra. Indietronic meets shuffleknarz and both seem pretty happy with the new perspectives opened thereby.

Of course we hope that you'll feel similarly happy and, as usual, wish you loads of cost-free listening pleasure.

Deutsch: Der Sommer rückt in greifbare Nähe und die Laune wird merklich besser. Da lassen sich selbst Monomatik, unsere unverbesserlichen Romantiker mit Hang zur Melancholie, nicht lumpen und legen mit einem versonnenen Lächeln auf den Lippen zum zehnjährigen Bandjubiläum gleich zwei neue Veröffentlichungen vor, die einige ihrer bisher weniger bekannten Seiten zum Vorschein bringen.

Traditionell mit einer glatt durch 12 teilbaren Releasenummer versehen, wenden Monomatik auf Morgen träumen wir gemeinsam den Blick zurück auf die Frühzeit ihrer musikalischen Sozialisation. Synthpop-Fragmente durchdringen das frickelige Indietronic-Geflecht der Tracks und aktivieren Erinnerungen, die man verloren glaubte oder von denen man teilweise selber nicht mal mehr wusste, dass man sie überhaupt hatte.

All this ... but no buck-teeth!

English: Hey, it seems spring has finally arrived here in Germany and as if to top things off, it's Easter time, too. Even though we had to lose the buck-teeth upon the advice of our dentist, the iD.EOLOGY staff put on their bunny costumes to busily hobble around and place two big yummy Easter eggs on our site for you.

Authist & Dub One!, our two Berlin dubheads, assiduously make their contribution and present their third EP on iD.EOLOGY entitled The Hidden Dub Files. And where things are being hidden, there is a lot to discover. When they spice up their fat reggae-flavoured dubs with world-music influences, add a dash of d'n'b or lace them with smacking electro-sounds, the inclined listener is not only in for a sure surprise but also for some jumps for joy to have spotted another little, hidden reference. By the way, the two never-weary and production-crazy Berlin fellas will be coming at you with an album on MusicArtistry very soon, that you should be sure not to be missing.

Phour Trakk, on the other hand, is taking a look at the more contemplative sides of life on his third EP on iD.EOLOGY. Sleeping city is a reflection on the commotions of everyday-life in a big city. His unique mixture of downbeat, jazz and ambient is the perfect soundtrack for a lonely ramble through the urban jungle at nighttime, giving you back the calmness and serenity that the stressful day has sucked out of your soul.

Now, after the very last echoes of a great world-championship, a bombastic summer in the park and some long-overdue holidays have finally faded, we return to the really important things in life and present to you the debut ep's of two names on the iD.EOLOGY roster which you probably know from some of our compilations already.

On Relectronic, NK impressively shows us the difference between an inspired work and a mere quotation. With fine ears he isolates the characteristics of a huge variety of electronic music styles from 1990 on and combines the individual parts according to his tastes into kicking mixtures that render the question whether this is electrohouse, bigbeat-acid or ambient lounge-techno superflous.

Glamourous and seductive is the style in which our house-confectioner Lash is getting things done. Deelashious is like a box of the finest chocolates, that here and there taste like a whiff of trance, a hint of electro or a pinch of techno but always carry that big creamyness of house in their hearts. And since your legs won't be able to stand still from now on, this will on tops give some edge to your shape.

In our iD.EOLOGY shop are two new CD´s containing brand new, previously
unreleased material by the Broke Gringos and Alice Rose.

On their own new vinyl & cd-label D´Akkord the Broke Gringos released
their first real Album called "Gaijin" with 9 tracks and 2 videocips
on it.
The big german Musicmagazine Intro wrote about the album:
"Im Vergleich zum Bewohner von Nippes ist der Mühlheimer in Köln
schon ein Gaijin.Aber die beiden Domstadt-Rapper Doc Dondo und

Nachdem nun auch die allerletzten Echos einer grandiosen WM, eines bombastischen Sommers im Park und einiger längst überfälliger Urlaube verhallt sind, wenden auch wir uns wieder den wirklich wichtigen Dingen des Lebens zu und melden uns mit den Debut EPs zweier iD.EOLOGY Recken zurück, die Euch bereits von einigen unserer Compilations bekannt sind.

Auf Relectronic zeigt uns NK eindrucksvoll den Unterschied zwischen inspirierter Arbeit und bloßem Zitat. Zielsicher isoliert er die Charakteristika vielfältigster Spielarten der elektronischen Musik seit 1990 und kombiniert die Einzelteile nach seinem Gusto zu kickenden Mixturen, bei denen sich die Frage erübrigt, ob das jetzt eigentlich Electrohouse, Bigbeat-Acid oder ambientes Loungetechno ist.

Glamourös und verführerisch läßt es House-Konditor Lash angehen. Deelashious ist wie eine Schachtel voll feinster Pralinen, die hier und da nach einem Hauch Trance, einer Spur Electro oder einer Prise Techno schmecken, die aber stets die sahnige Cremigkeit von House im Herzen tragen. Und weil Deine Beine ab jetzt nicht mehr still stehen, macht's auch noch nen schlanken Fuß.

iD.EOLOGY Labelnight in Berlin

Zusammen mit dem f.u.c. e.V. treten wir am 15.04.06 aus dem virtuellen Raum heraus auf die Bretter der Villa 54 in Berlin. Neben einem Workshop zum Thema "Aufbau und Betrieb eines Netlabels", einem feisten DJ-Programm und einer Ausstellung der Grafikkünstler des Labels startet ab kurz nach Mitternacht die Hauptattraktion des Abends:* neun iD.EOLOGY Acts live auf zwei Floors*. Von Electro, Advantgarde-Pop, Hip Hop, Funk und Soul bis Digital Laptop Reggae und Indietronic sowie Techdub und Minimal-House gibts gute fünf Stunden lang eines der wohl vielfältigsten Netlabels live und in Farbe.

2 new EPs and some new features !!

English: Yaaawn! What can we say? It's been freezing cold and grey over the past few months so we at iD.EOLOGY decided to hibernate in order to prevent ourselves from going bonkers. So now that, calendar-wise, spring is coming up, we're stretching our rusty bones and joints to give you all a cosy wakeup-call with two new releases and a bundle of sensational news. But one thing after another ...

First off, the Sunshine Family, a new introduction to the iD. portfolio, present their debut ep The Love of The Sunshine Family. With their mix of lounge, ambient, pop and jazz they update our musical grammar, teaching us to compare "relaxed", "more relaxed", "Sunshine Family".

Secondly, iD.EOLOGY'S very own Phour Trakk teams up with vocalist Sick-E as Zengineers to present their very first ep entitled Mental Maps for Large Territories. Their very own blend of styles, ranging from lounge and breakbeat to funk, pop and hip-hop, might not only give you a smooth time but also trigger one thought or another on the nature of things.

A warm-hearted thank you goes out to all our users who voted for us in the readers' poll of the German electronic music and lifestyle mag de:bug, putting us into position no. 5 in the netlabel-category. We appreciate the respect and say thanks again, also in the name of all our artists.

As you might have noticed already, our cosy little site now holds two new functions: board and booking.

On the board you can share your opinions on your favourite iD.EOLOGY artists with others, give us your views on what's good and bad, post interesting links etc. In short, you can do the load of things with it that a board is intended for.

Via the booking button you now have the chance to experience iD.EOLOGY not only in the net and by download but also live and by touch. Okay, we'll have to discuss this last point later but you can now book many of iD.EOLOGY's artists for your event as a dj or for live performances.

Finally, mark down Easter weekend in your agendas now! On April 15th you'll have the opportunity to see iD.EOLOGY live in Berlin. Performances by Slomo, Sel, Broke Gringos, Broke Lovers Sextet, Fleur Earth, Alice Rose, Disrupt, Monomatik and Dual Perception will be rocking the walls of an old townhouse in the capital of Germany. Es war arschkalt und verdammt grau in den letzten paar Monaten, also haben wir bei iD.EOLOGY uns erstmal entschlossen, einen kleinen Winterschlaf einzulegen, um uns vor dem kompletten Durchdrehen zu bewahren. Nachdem nun also, zumindest kalendarisch, der Frühling vor der Tür steht, strecken wir unsere eingerosteten Knochen und Gelenke und geben Euch allen einen kuscheligen Weckruf mit zwei neuen Releases und einer Menge sensationeller Neuigkeiten. Aber eins nach dem anderen ...

Zunächst einmal präsentieren The Sunshine Family, ein Neuzugang im iD. Portfolio, ihre Debüt-EP The Love of The Sunshine Family. Mit ihrem Mix aus Lounge, Ambient, Pop und Jazz bringen sie unsere musikalische Grammatik auf den neusten Stand und lehren uns, zukünftig wie folgt zu steigern: "entspannt", "entspannter", "Sunshine Family".

Ein ganz liebes Dankeschön geht an all unsere treuen Anhänger, deren Stimmen uns in der Leserumfrage der de:bug Platz 5 in der Kategorie Netlabel beschert haben. Wir freuen uns über die Anerkennung und bedanken uns nochmal ganz herzlich auch im Namen all unserer Künstler.

Wie Ihr vielleicht schon gemerkt habt, weist unsere hübsche kleine Site nun zwei neue Funktionen auf: Board und Booking.

Auf dem Board könnt Ihr Euch mit Anderen über Eure Lieblingskünstler austauschen, Lob und Kritik loswerden, interessante Links posten etc. Eben all das, wozu ein Board gut ist.

Über den Booking Button gibts iD.EOLOGY endlich nicht nur im Netz und zum Download, sondern auch live und zum Anfassen. "Never mind the industry ... here's iD.EOLOGY" is our answer to the question whether independent music-publishing via the internet makes sense, whether it has to be and whether it can work out. FLASHBACK! iD. GOES RETRO!

English: Geezus, we're getting old! Once you reach the magic mark of 30, you tend to start getting nostalgic at times. And so, the geriatric farts here at iD.EOLOGY take you on a trip this month back to the days when homecomputers got along with 39 KB of free RAM and your clothes had a tendency to be entirely black. Our Designers' Lounge contributes yet another slideshow, reflecting on the nature of home.

With his debut release on iD.EOLOGY, Disrupt makes his machines sound as if they had spent a 3-week vacation in Jamaica. On Jah Bit Invasion he combines rough and warm sounds in the style of your favourite 8-bit computer with the relaxed mood of true roots reggae.

If Monomatik got to step inside a cosmetics-shop, you can be sure they won't be thinking of perfume if they hear someone yell "More Issey!". In their hearts still hooked on the melancholic feel of British 80's guitar-pop, they masterfully combine this atmosphere with their futuristic electronica-pop arrangements on their second EP on iD.EOLOGY, entitled And we claim these words as our own.

In her first slideshow on iD.EOLOGY, entitled Heimatliebe #1, Resilein visualises her ideas concerning the question what makes home what it is. Is home locatable? Or does one permanently carry it around with him?

So, a lot of new stuff that ties in with some older. Still, there's not even a hint of dust or wrinkles. Plus: it's still all for free. So what are you waiting for? Start leeching!

HIP-HOP AND YA DON'T STOP!

English: This month we give you a fat double-pack of hip-hop plus another smashing music-video.

In the aftermath of the iD.EOLOGY labelnight in the Kulturbunker in Cologne on May 26th 2005, the Broke Gringos and some friends and like-minded ones throw some tracks onto the table, fat enough to burst with hip-hop, funk, jazz and soul. We are very proud to present the whole thing to you wrapped up in one compilation entitled Colonius Monk Collective which is solid proof of the fact that hip-hop is still alive and kicking.

Sel, ambitious MC with the Brokes, is in a giving mood and breaks off a 6-track EP as a bonus. On Sel Meets 12BitPhil he spits lines that'll curselessly rock your head over the kicking beats of 12BitPhil.

Larsaction and Doc Dondo, both MCs with the Broke Gringos, have fixed up a video for their killertrack "We Do Not Stop". Watch the two getting down Samurai-style with some wicked moves in this true gem of underground entertainment.

NEW EPs AND LOADS OF STUFF

English: With a slightly nervous grin and a bit of our regular 'cum tempore' we bring you two new EPs, both with their similarly remarkable, yet very individual flavours. And to make up for the waiting-time, we throw in a breathtaking new slideshow and a mix-set made exclusively from netaudio-tracks, a cool music-video and some really hot news!

Elektrokill has prepared a rough little sabotage-action on our nervous-systems, overloading our minds' circuits with a carpet-bombing of beat-fragments and odd little tidbits on his first EP on iD.EOLOGY, entitled Sdlugha iruxk'y.

Authist & Dub One! on the other hand are all about relaxation and soulful, dubby vibes. On their first mini-album on iD.EOLOGY, the Dub Illusions EP, the two dubheads relocate the den of Jah to Kreuzberg/Berlin, getting us in the mood for a summer on bare feet in the park.

René Rothmann shares with us a deeper look at personality's very own sins. Learn to switch between the life inside and the one in the outside world and educate your gaze in his latest slideshow 7 Sünden der Persönlichkeit ("7 sins of personality").

Our drum'n'bass president Elliptic has put his ear to the web and compiled a smashing mix-set from netaudio-material only. Take a trip through the finest the net has to offer, all sorts of styles included, and join the Digital Drive.

Bangguru have made a video for their track "Andology" and we here at iD.EOLOGY are very proud to present to you to exclusively!

On May 26th we present to you Broke Gringos, Slomo, Broke Lovers Sextett, Sel and Ate One and band live in concert alongside numerous DJs spinning the fattest in hip-hop and the finest breaks and lounge beats. NEW: Two EPS and one graphics-release!

English: You've got to celebrate a party when it comes along. Just in case you need an occasion, how about this one: this month we once again bring you two new EPs of most different flavour and one fine graphics-release.

With his first album-release on iD.EOLOGY, the Fehlerengel EP, Rupert from Berlin/Germany puts a twinkling little jewel full of cosy minimalistic pop-appeal onto the gifts-plate. Discreet vocals with subtle humour meet elegant cuteness. Together they hop onto the beat-scooter and keep riding into the sunset forever.

But things are getting even more beautiful. Deep Motions from Moscow open our eyes, ears and hearts for a true appreciation of beauty with their very first EP on iD.EOLOGY entitled An isolated feeling. With a lot of sense for opulence they take us into a daydream in which nothing but harmony and balance seems to have a place.

English: Hohohoooo! Since christmas is known to be the time in which nice people do each other some good, we have assembled a new label-compilation aptly entitled iD. ain't for identical as a present for you. And it goes without saying that apart from our meritorious heroes Sudio, NK, Monomatik, the Brokes, Ate One and Elliptic, we let a number of new additions to our repertoire be heard. Be it Phour Trakk from Cologne/Germany, who in spite of all the electronics never loses his ear for the "human touch", be it Rupert from Berlin/Germany, whose reduced style can never fully hide the wittiness underneath, be it Authist and Dub One! (also from Berlin) through whose cool dubbyness you can always feel the beaming warmth of the Jamaican sun, Resource from Toronto/Canada, who never forget the beat during their ambient-trips, or Bangguru from Lisboa/Portugal, who like to ameliorate an already great song with some fine electronic niceties.

So have one merry christmas ... and celebrate diversity!

Double Music Feature, New Graphics, Labelnight

English: Geez, it's been gettin' chilly outside lately. So we've withdrawn into our little cozy homes, got the kettle boiling and put some serious brain and effort into bringing you a funky truckload of pre-christmas gifts! Nice people, aren't we?

First off, we're proud to announce our premiere double music feature: this month we bring you two mindbogglingly fresh EPs by a decorated veteran and a new recruit with a taste for the bang!

Sudio, the microprobe, takes us aboard his little submarine and on a trip round the insides of neo sci-fi electro-funk. For all those who missed Sudio's brilliant performance at the Evoke-Party / Netlabel-Night in Cologne on the 27th of August, the Soulstrip EP gives you the chance to witness a magician and a scientist merged into one going to work - live and in effect.

Also, we're very proud to present a new addition to the iD. repertoire. Bangguru know a bit or twelve about putting tracks together that do justice to their name. On their debut release on iD.EOLOGY, the Bangtopia EP, the duo from Lisboa / Portugal show us how a breathtaking mix-up of electro, trip-hop and ambient spiced with vocals of pure sweetness can lead the way into a bright future with nothing else to obey but the law of the beat and the rule of a good tune.

Since iD.EOLOGY isn't just your favourite spot in the net for new exciting music ;-) but also a label for equally exciting graphics-artists, we happily welcome a new talent to our DesignersLounge. In ens per se, her first portfolio on iD.EOLOGY, Jasmin from Münster / Germany enacts a richly ornamented mysterious play, told in multi-layered pictures, each a riddle in itself.

So after we've given you some good chances now to see and hear iD.EOLOGY, how about getting tactile? On Saturday, December 11th, you'll get the opportunity to get in touch directly at the iD.EOLOGY labelnight, held in the Salon 112, Hamburgerstrasse 2a, Cologne. Doors open at 9pm. Come and see our very own Elliptic and Monomatik perform live, catch us spinning some funky old and new goodies from our label, get lost in the DesignersLounge exposition and witness Monsieur J. empty Vodka-Jägermeister by the pint. Also haben wir uns erstmal in unsere behaglichen kleinen Heimstätten zurückgezogen, einen schönen heissen Tee aufgesetzt sowie ordentlich unsere Hundehirne angestrengt und Mühen an den Tag gelegt, um Euch mit einer hübschen kleinen LKW-Ladung an vorweihnachtlichen Präsenten eine Freude zu bereiten. Zunächst mal sind wir stolz wie bolle, unser erstes musikalisches Double-Feature anzukündigen: diesen Monat bringen wir Euch zwei knaller EPs von einem hochverdienten Veteranen und einem neuen Rekruten mit einer Vorliebe für den Bang!

Sudio, die Mikrosonde, nimmt uns an Bord seines kleinen U-Boots mit auf eine Reise durch das Innenleben von Neo Sci-Fi Electro-Funk. Für diejenigen, die Sudios grossartige Performance auf der Evoke-Party / Netlabel-Night in Köln am 27. August verpasst haben, bietet die Soulstrip EP die Gelegenheit, einen Magier und einen Wissenschaftler in Personalunion bei der Arbeit zu beobachten - live and in effect.

Sehr stolz sind wir auch auf einen Neuzugang zum iD. Repertoire. Bangguru wissen so ein bis zwölf Dinge darüber, wie man Tracks zusammenbastelt, die dem Bandnamen gerecht werden. Auf seiner Debut-Veröffentlichung auf iD.EOLOGY, der Bangtopia EP, zeigt uns das Duo aus Lissabon / Portugal, wie ein atemberaubender Mix aus Electro, Trip-Hop und Ambient, angereichert mit zuckersüssen Vocals den Weg in eine leuchtende Zukunft führen kann, in der man sich nichts und niemandem unterordnen muss als dem Gesetz des Beat und der Herrschaft einer guten Melodie.

New releases: Monomatik & Sir Pinski

English: On showing off some remarkable skills on our recent anniversary-compilation, Monomatik now hit the public with the first release of their own on iD.EOLOGY, the Sefton Park EP. Intricate electronica gets mixed up with sweet and cozy pop-flavours to create atmospheres floating nicely somewhere inbetween the womb and the tomb. Get a taste of it now!

iD.EOLOGY head and graphics-chief Chris has put his mind and hands to the idea of unsoiled and unfunctional seeing. One Year Anniversary!

English: The Netlabelnight in Cologne on the 27th of August has been *the* netlabel-event in 2004! The iD.EOLOGY posse hit the party and rocked the crowd with two liveacts by Elliptic and Sudio and one kicking d'n'b DJ-set by mo. We all had a great time there and basically partied our heads off. Thanks again to Prymer of Tokyo Dawn Records for making it all possible.

Now, just after the headaches are gone and everybody's generally recovered, we already have another reason to celebrate: iD.EOLOGY is proud to announce its one-year anniversary! Yes, indeed, it's been a year since we first hit the public with that very first compilation and a lot of stuff has happened in the meantime. So, in order to let you partake in our happiness and pride, we give you iD.011: Music is About People - another label-compilation introducing new recruits like Deep Motions, Glander, Monomatik and Doodle alongside (amongst others) household names like Cuebism, Ate One and the Broke Gringos. Deutsch: Die Netlabelnacht in Köln am 27. August war *das* Netlabel-Event des Jahres 2004! Our 10th Music Release is out - Velure from Australia!

English: Don't you find it a pain in the neck hearing the lament that netlabels publish only instrumental electronic tracks but never really proper songs? Well, no matter how often you've heard it, we're now making sure you won't hear it anymore ;)
With their very first release on iD.EOLOGY, the Australian quintet Velure deliver five carefully composed and intricately produced pieces, in which elements of d'n'b, trip-hop and dub have been interwoven with the enticing voice of Lynnelle Moran to form truly enchanting songs. iD.EOLOGY's chief dj mo. hasn't spent his recent days just idling away, either. He's browsed the web for some listening pearls - and the ones he's found, he's mingled and mixed into part one of his "Netaudio Tape" sessions. You can find the full mix plus infos here.

Still hot (we're talking 'sizzling' here) is the very first and fine breakbeat release by Elliptic that even got a review in de:bug online.
Also, there still is Rene Rothmann's slideshow "Life operates according to the laws of painting" which features excerpts from his upcoming art-exposition in Berlin from July 10th, 2004 to August, 15th, 2004.

iD.EOLOGY heads mo. and Monsieur J. appeared on a radio-show concerned with netaudio/netlabels on Cologne Campus Radio at the beginning of 2004. They had some chit-chat about these subjects and played a bundle of their favourite tracks from "da scene". Comfort your ears here!

Ebenfalls immer noch *autsch* sehr heiss ist das erste Elliptic-Release mit seinen harmonischen Breakbeats. Ein Review dazu gibts in der de:bug online.
Ausserdem ist da noch Rene Rothmanns Slideshow "Das Leben richtet sich nach den Gesetzen der Malerei", welche Auszüge aus seiner kommenden Ausstellung in Berlin vom 10.07. - 15.08.2004 enthält.

Schliesslich waren die iD.EOLOGY Heads mo. und Monsieur J. Anfang des Jahres bei einer Sendung im Köln Campus Radio zum Thema Netaudio/Netlabel zu Gast, in der wir ein wenig zu eben diesen Themen erzählt und auch den einen oder anderen Lieblingshit der "Scene" gespielt haben ;) - reinhören kann man hier!

Out Now! Music Release iD.008 & iD_gfx.006

English: Yo babeez! It's time for some seriously rocking shit. Our very own Elliptic enters the scene with a smasher - iD.008. "Fractional" is a real kicking bad-ass d'n'b e.p. with a strong, chilled-out downbeat flavour. So take good care, it wants to be *listened* to.
After you've had your ears filled up, have your eyes feast on the paintings of Rene Rothmann and witness an artist in effect! We've compiled a series of his works in our graphics-release iD_gfx.006 entitled "Life operates according to the laws of painting".

So keep your eyes and ears open ... but you better shut your mouth again!

New Audio & Video-Releases

English: After a long and lazy vacation we're back again with a fat package to inject some new soul into the Internet. First off, we chill-out in a laid-back fashion with the Broke Gringos' long-awaited release - the Junk EP. Then we open our bag of goodies and bring you a video, blackest vinyl and a beat-tape/double CD. The latter introduces our latest addition to our artist-portfolio: DJ Ate One. The Cologne cool kid is about ready to go with his first release on our label so very soon he'll be rocking you with his own definition of hiphop/funk, breaks and house. Look out!

Our excellent new graphical series gets launched with yet another fat feature to celebrate the return of the sun. Parallel to the monthly audio-releases, we'll present to you selected works from our pool of graphics-designers fixed up into one fine electronic illustrated book every month. To get things rolling, we churn out a double-feature by Chris. Here's an unedited transcript of the original thoughts of a spectator, stroking his beard in consideration:

"Let me nail this down: the necessity for self-organisation and self-reference in natural orders determines the visual coherence of stereoscopic vision in the eye of the beholder. Words on their way into the image.

The understanding of 'manipulation' and 'stipulation' as a composition of the terms 'tree', 'water' and 'sky' - during the day and at night - into a synthetic architecture is to be shown within each of these works.

Not to comprehend the emphasis on plain surfaces and perspectives as the suffering within hope, is a misinterpretation the pieces, caused by detecting habits within conformity. These works are not your cheezy Punch-and-Judy show, driven by that desire to model loneliness with romance. Romance keeps trying to push the idea of having lost all meaning. The sledgehammer to our eyes obscures the fact how massively brittle the concept of creating prose out of added value has worn.

These works are, in contrast, comfortably intuitive and lost. 'Natural disorder'. Nature as plagiarism and term as form. 'Human spaces' - the space amid this dead tired rationality. Recommended."

Last but not least we cleaned up our page a little, and look - some colour got back on our old grey site-design.

Deutsch: Nach einem ausgedehnten, faulen Urlaub sind wir zurück, um dem Internet wieder etwas mehr Seele zu verleihen und haben da so einiges im Gepäck.

Erstmal lehnen wir uns entspannt zurück und lauschen dem lang erwarteten Release der Broke Gringos - Junk EP. Daneben gibt's noch ein Video, tiefschwarzes Vinyl sowie ein Beat-Tape/Doppel-CD, womit wir u.a. unseren neuesten Zuwachs DJ Ate One vorstellen. Der Kolleesche aus Kölle, der mit einem derben Release bei uns schon in den Startlöchern steht, wird schon sehr bald seine Definition von Hiphop/Funk, Breaks und House der Öffentlichkeit zugänglich machen. Seien Sie gespannt!

Ein weiteres fettes Feature, mit dem wir die Wiederkehr der Sonne feiern wollen, ist die Eröffnung unserer exzellenten neuen Grafikserie. Analog zu den monatlichen Audioreleases wollen wir ausgewählte Arbeiten aus unserem Designerpool jeweils in einem kurzen elektronischen Bildband bündeln und für euch zugänglich machen. Zum Einstieg gibt's erst einmal ein Double-Feature von unserem Chris, der nicht untätig war und ein paar neue visuelle Eindrücke auf Monitor gebannt hat. Was einem Betrachter dazu einfällt, der sich gerade über die Baarthaare fährt, haben wir mal ungekürzt zusammengetragen:

"Um das einmal festzuhalten: die Notwendigkeit zur Selbstorgansiation und Selbstreferenz in naturgegebenen Ordnungen bestimmt die visuelle Kohärenz der stereoskopischen Wahrnehmung im Auge des Betrachters. Worte auf dem Weg in das Bild.

Das Begreifen der Manipulation und Stipulation als Komposition der Begriffe "Baum", "Wasser" und "Himmel" - im Tage und bei Nacht - zu einer synthetischen Architektur gilt es in jeder dieser Arbeiten zu beweisen. Aber die verwendete Flächigkeit und Perspektive als das Leid der Hoffnung zu übersehen, verklärt die Bilder doch eher dahingehend, in einer Gleichförmigkeit Gewohnheiten zu finden. Diese Arbeiten sind alles andere als das fettklebrige Kasperletheater jener Sehnsucht, in Romantik Einsamkeit zu gestalten. Romantik propagierte schon immer, den Sinn verloren zu haben. Der Vorschlaghammer auf unseren Augen verbirgt die massige Brüchigkeit des Konzepts, aus Mehrwert noch Prosa zu erzeugen.

Daher sind diese Arbeiten auf angenehme Weise intuitiv und verloren. 'Natural Disorder'. Die Natur als Plagiat und der Begriff als Form. `Human Spaces', der Raum inmitten dieser übermüdeten Vernunft. Empfehlenswert."

Zu guter Letzt haben wir dann nochmal über unsere Seite gewischt, und siehe da, unter dem alten Grau ist wieder etwas mehr Farbe zum Vorschein gekommen!

Merry Christmas !!! Our X-Mas Gift ...

iD.EOLOGY - new designs and structures for our website

After lots of different blueprints, designs and strucures Sir Pinski made a new and totally different concept for our coming webpage. The menu was planned to be a 3D-city designed in lightwave, which you can rotate via flash in your browser. The different buildings are meant to be the menu-topics, a quite futuristic and very huge and complex concept. But, as Sir Pinski wasn´t the guy to make backups during that time, it was a big sad, fat kickback when his harddrive broke up after some months of hard work and nearly everything was lost. So after the work from months couldn´t be saved or reconstructed, our page shouldn´t get online until summer 2003, when we decided to bring it on with the help of moritz sauer (phlow.de), who offered us a small and comfort programming to help bringing our first official releases online.

Another old Pal from Remscheid teams up with us, The Elliptic. Starting as a DJ in the ninetees, he lateron produced quite funky Bigbeat and House and is now up to some groovey and smooth Drum 'n Bass. Stay tuned for his works soon via iD!

Phil Harmony (later renamed into Cuebism) teams up! Legendary is his own radioshow he has done at Evosonic-radio called "Boulevard Beatnik" in the late ninetees and "Soular Energy" with DJ Lars Arens (a.k.a. Soulkrates). Prepare for some really deep discogrooves coming up! :)

iD.EOLOGY

As some of their friends and also themselves doing some music and visuals arts, Jörg "Monsieur J." Friedrichs and Christian "Sir Pinski" Sierpinski decide to build up a collective/label in the early days of the millenium, to publish parts of that output. It´s not about a special genre, but on interesting and high-quality stuff. Artists are Oddjob, Konsumkinder, Smartbrain and Yakitorih on the musical side, Pevy, René Rothmann, One!man and Sir Pinski are responsible for the visual output.
