Circles and echoes

English: Circles seem to be a big thing these days. And in fact, they do get more interesting as they grow in diameter. At least that's true of the circles of friends and artists of our cosy little label. To prove ourselves right, first off we present to you the debut of a new addition to our portfolio with a homebase in Argentina and a favour for commuting between Italy and the UK. Our Berlin circle of friends throws in a real dj-nicety - and a video-interview with a podcaster-friend from the UK on tops.

On his iD.EOLOGY debut, the "Durban Chamber" LP, Dubsalon pays his very own tribute to the echo and infuses his rich and juicy psy-dub beats with elements from dubstep, funk, electronica, hiphop, downbeat and lounge. Shimmering with slick production, his tracks oscillate inbetween full-on and far-out, turning an abundance of musical detail into an equally relaxed, rousing and reality-bending overall listening experience.

DJ Saetchmo, bass-loving resident of the Berlin #tassebier posse and host of his very own weekly Echochamber show, has put his mixing-mind and -digits to Dubsalon's tracks and has tweaked them into a mindboggling 30 minutes of trippy dubby goodness. And that mix is of course also part of the package which we have prepared for you this time.

Finally, Volker of the iD.EOLOGY staff met up with pEtEr Withoutfield of Blogrebellen and award-winning podcaster Pete Cogle in true conspiracy-style on May 23rd. Pete, who is pumping out truckloads of quality podcasts, answered Volker some questions about his shows and his views on free music. pEtEr made a video of the interview which you might want to check out for some inside knowledge on the exciting world of podcasting.

Deutsch: Kreise sind ja momentan in aller Munde. Und tatsächlich werden sie mit zunehmendem Durchmesser immer interessanter. Jedenfalls verhält es sich so mit den Freundes- und Künstlerkreisen unseres kuscheligen kleinen Labels. Zum Beweis präsentieren wir Euch daher zunächst das Debutalbum eines Neuzugangs zu unserem Portfolio, der zwar seine Homebase in Argentinien hat, aber gern zwischen Italien und UK pendelt. DJ Saetchmo, seines Zeichens bassverliebter Resident der Berliner #tassebier Fraktion und Host seiner ureigensten wöchentlichen Echochamber Show, hat seine Mixing-Skills und -Finger an Dubsalons Tracks angelegt und sie in eine abgefahrene 30-minütige Mischung reinster dubbiger Extase verwandelt. Und natürlich ist auch dieser Mix Teil des Pakets, das wir diesmal für Euch geschnürt haben.

Schließlich hat sich Volker vom iD.EOLOGY Team in echter Verschwörungsmanier am 23. Mai noch mit pEtEr Withoutfield von den Blogrebellen und dem preisgekrönten britischen Podcaster Pete Cogle getroffen. Pete versorgt uns und Euch nicht nur regelmäßig mit Wagenladungen qualitativ hochwertiger Podcasts, sondern war auch noch so freundlich, Volker einige Fragen zu seinen Shows und zu seinen Ansichten über freie Musik zu beantworten. pEtEr hat ein Video des Interviews gemacht, welches wir Euch dringend ans Herz legen, wenn Euch der Sinn nach einigen Insider-Infos aus der aufregenden Welt des Podcasting steht.

"The one fact about the future of which we can be certain is that it will be utterly fantastic."

English: Has it ever struck you that quotations about the future always come from the past? One might think that it's something like a contradiction in terms. But then again, the combination of past and future can yield quite an exciting and inspiring mixture. Much in this vein, besides our latest release we also have a link to a fine podcast with an extensive interview with some of the iD. posse in store for you this month.

Our fabulous new addition Strobotone combines futuristic electronic dance-sound with a truckload of references from 35 years of musical history on his one-hour debut-album entitled Flashback Forward. Skillfully he amalgamates bits and pieces from funk, disco, electric boogie, house, electronica, ambient and many more into a crisp and detailed mixture of perfect pop. And since this is such damn good fun even for those who are not highbrow academic eclectics, these tracks sound like tomorrow's classics already today.

To those who'd like to know some more about the past, present and future of iD.EOLOGY, we warmly recommend the wonderful podcast PCP #344 by Pete Cogle. The latter interviewed Dub One! and Volker Tripp from the iD.EOLOGY posse for over an hour on free music and your favourite netlabel and also played some hand-picked tracks from our portfolio.

Even though Arthur C. Clarke coined the above quotation back in 1962, we're pretty amazed that in the face of our latest release, it is still very up to date. So, raise your glasses to the future ... and start the download!

Deutsch: Ist Euch eigentlich schon mal aufgefallen, dass Zitate, welche die Zukunft betreffen, stets aus der Vergangenheit stammen? Man könnte meinen, das sei ein Widerspruch in sich. Last night a BJ saved my life

English: As you know, at iD.EOLOGY we love the diversity of life. And as you can tell, we don't mind the occasional cheesy joke. With our latest two releases we therefore bring you some slightly raunchy music for body and soul as well as exciting and inspiring sounds for the mind.

On his long-awaited second solo-release on iD.EOLOGY, the Blow Dubs EP, Berlin-based producer-whizz Dub One! gets all physical with tracks full of pure aural sex. Wild space-funk, sensual reggae, tingly salsa and explosive bigbeat get together for an alluring menage-a-dub that will seduce you and leave you satisfied with a wide, pleasant smile.

Kosmonaut, on the other hand, turns to the philosophical side of things on his already third offering on iD.EOLOGY entitled Utopia EP. In the ideal sonic society he sketches out in lively colours, space-age drum'n'bass, dubstep electronica, lush slow-house and subtle chillout-ambient co-exist in peace at even volumes, tearing down the stylistic walls between them.

Three is a lucky number!

English: For kickin off the new year in style and with thrust, we found it a good idea to supply you with some extra-bouncy, hiney-wiggling beats.

While our christmas pressies - Tracing Arcs' Eye See You EP and Bit Spencer's Beats and Bytes mix - are both still sizzlingly popular with you folks, we already throw in the another package no less rich and lush.
